Clinical experience is the key to success! Dr. Tony Willcox has over 17 years of Acupuncture experience with the patient convenience of seven treatment rooms at the practice of Acupuncture Zen in Delray Beach. Dr. Tony has two assistants who help him with patient care, scheduling and assisting with Laser therapy. He has personally inserted over 9 million acupuncture needles in his career helping patients heal from all walks of life. From teenagers to centenarians with all the ailments in-between. These include patients seeking stress relief, and treatments for depression, anxiety, insomnia, auto-immune disorders and general wellness. Professional athletes are using Acupuncture, K-Laser Therapy, Low Level Laser Therapy, NovoTHOR Red Light Therapy, Cupping and other modalities offered for treatment of injuries, and recovery including therapies for performance. No matter what your ailments are, the chances are Acupuncture and Chinese medicine may have an answer for you.

After practicing for 6 years in Deerfield Beach with his own practice Acupuncture Now he then moved to Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach to Acupuncture Zen, going from ‘Now to Zen’ and has been here for over 11 years.

ABOUT Dr. Tony Willcox

Dr. Tony Willcox received the highest level of education in acupuncture two times over with a Clinical Doctorate (DAOM) in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and a PhD. in Acupuncture in Hefei, Anhui, China. He is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and Licensed Acupuncturist who is NCCAOM National Double Board Certified In Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine. Dr. Tony received the ‘Academic Excellence Award’ for his studies in Chinese medicine. He has a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine. After completing his Clinical Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, on invitation from the Chinese Government Dr. Willcox completed his PhD. in Acupuncture in Hefei, Anhui Province, China under the tutelage of Professor Yang Jun from the Anhui University of Chinese Medicine in Hefei.

Dr. Tony completed his pilot study of “The Effects of Acupuncture on Mild Cognitive Impairment due to Alzheimer’s Disease” under the direction of Professor Galvin, the clinical dean of research at Charles E Schmidt College of Medicine at the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. This study was the first of it’s kind to be implemented at this University.

Dr. Willcox has had personal tuition from Dr. Shi Xue Min of Tianjin, China. Dr. Xue Min is famous for his technique of Xing Nao Kai Qiao (XNKQ), a specific acupuncture protocol to provide treatment for patients with neurological conditions such as; Stroke, Coma, Parkinson’s, Bells Palsy, Tremor, Neuralgia, Facial Paralysis and Dementia. This technique raise the clear Qi and open the orifices. Dr. Shi Xue Min is considered a Treasure by the Chinese Government and has written several books on Acupuncture and appeared in the movie 9000 Needles, a movie about the treatment of these conditions mentioned. Having personal time with such a legend in the field enriches the cultural understanding of this medicine and deepens the transmission of learning.

 

Scientific Study FAU

Dr. Tony Willcox initiated the first clinical study of acupuncture at Florida Atlantic University. This pilot study observed the Effects of Acupuncture on Mild Cognitive Impairment and was published in September, 2019 by the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinsonism. Outcomes from the study showed benefits in cognition, mood, mindfulness and physical performance. This study has laid the groundwork for further investigation using acupuncture therapy.
