Red light therapy uses visible red light (around 660 nm) and near-infrared light (around 850 nm) to support the body in various ways. The process is called photobiomodulation (PBM). Near-infrared light is invisible but felt as gentle warmth; red light is similar but visible. When these wavelengths reach the body, they are understood to stimulate the mitochondria — the cell’s energy centers — supporting ATP production, the molecule that powers essential functions like muscle contraction, nerve transmission, and protein synthesis. It depends on your goals. For active recovery or a specific target, daily to 2–3 times per week is common until you reach it. For ongoing wellness, once a week or every two weeks is typical. Many people also use it on-demand — before or after hard training, for travel recovery, or whenever they need a reset. Everyone responds differently, and Dr. Tony can help tailor a frequency that fits your needs.
