At Acupuncture Zen in Delray Beach, infrared heat lamp therapy is a foundational part of every treatment. Each room is equipped with the IR-300 professional infrared lamp — a clinical-grade, drug-free device that delivers deeply penetrating infrared light. Far from a simple heat source, it works at the tissue level to support and amplify the effects of acupuncture, laser therapy, and the other modalities we offer.

WHAT IS INFRARED HEAT LAMP THERAPY?

Infrared light sits just beyond the visible spectrum — you can’t see it, but the body experiences its energy as a gentle, soothing warmth. Unlike surface heat from a hot pack, infrared energy penetrates the skin and reaches deeper into muscles, joints, fascia, and connective tissue — structures that surface heat can’t easily access — which may help encourage circulation and relaxation from the inside out, without UV exposure or discomfort.

INFRARED THERAPY & TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

In the TCM framework, infrared heat is a modern expression of one of the tradition’s most ancient principles — using warmth to move Qi and Blood, warm the meridians, and dispel Cold and Dampness. Both traditional moxibustion and modern infrared therapy use heat to encourage circulation and support the body’s natural healing. WHAT TO EXPECT

The IR-300 lamp is positioned over the treatment area at a safe, comfortable distance while you relax on the table. The warmth builds gradually — most patients find it soothing from the first moment. It’s usually applied during your acupuncture session, where the heat may help deepen muscle relaxation and enhance the overall effect. There’s no pain, no UV exposure, and no downtime; sessions are non-invasive.

As with any heat-based therapy, infrared may not be appropriate for certain skin conditions, areas with reduced sensation, or specific medical circumstances. Be sure to inform Dr. Tony of any relevant medical history before treatment.
