Reproductive Conditions

Overview

Reproductive conditions refer to the disorders, conditions, and diseases that affect the functions of the male and female reproductive systems. Disorders of reproduction include birth defects, developmental disorders, low birth weight, preterm birth, reduced fertility, impotence, and menstrual disorders. Certain exposures can lead to higher reproductive disorders such as lead, pollutants, mercury, and chemicals. A growing body of evidence suggests that exposure to endocrine disruptors, chemicals that appear to disrupt hormonal activity in humans and animals, may contribute to problems with fertility, pregnancy, and other aspects of reproduction.

Reproductive Conditions

Reproductive conditions are health concerns that people with reproductive organs experience that can put both health and fertility in jeopardy. They can also come with debilitating, life-altering symptoms that can include chronic pain, heavy periods, painful sex, and more. Unfortunately, many people struggling with the effects of reproductive conditions don’t get the help they need from traditional medicine alone. That’s why acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to help people with reproductive organs overcome and manage the impacts of reproductive conditions.

Examples of Reproductive Conditions

There are a number of reproductive conditions that can negatively affect a person’s life including:

Endometriosis: This type of reproductive condition occurs when a person with a uterus’s lining grows outside of the uterus. This uterine lining, rather than growing inside the uterus, typically ends up growing on other abdominal or reproductive parts including the ovaries, bladder, or intestines. Symptoms of endometriosis can vary from person to person but typically include abdominal pain, heavy periods and cramping, and infertility.

Fibroids: Fibroids are growths, or tumors, made up of cells of tissue that don’t die off. These tumors can get in the way of normal bodily functioning as they can grow on the ovaries or inside of the uterus. They can negatively impact fertility, cause painful sex, and cause people who experience them to have more heavy periods.

PCOS: Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS) is a condition in which the ovaries produce more testosterone than they should. This can lead to cysts growing on the outside of the ovaries. And, keep a person from ovulating normally. Symptoms of this condition can include infertility, irregular periods, and pain in the abdominal region.

How Acupuncture Helps Reproductive Organs

Acupuncture has been used to help people living with reproductive conditions for many years. Acupuncture works by stimulating specific channels in the body that direct to different sets of organs. In some cases, people who are living with reproductive issues have blockages within these channels that can result in the development of reproductive issues. So, acupuncture can help to release these blockages and reduce the severity of reproductive condition symptoms.

Additionally, acupuncture can help to stimulate the flow of blood along with the stimulation of hormones which can rebalance issues that stem from reproductive conditions. And, can help to reduce pain which may be a symptom of reproductive conditions. Therefore, acupuncture can be a great tool for the use of treating reproductive conditions for many people.
