Dr. Tony Willcox D.A.O.M., D.O.M., A.P., L.Ac. is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist who is NCCAOM National Double Board Certified In Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine. Dr. Tony received the ‘Academic Excellence Award’ for his studies in Chinese medicine. He has a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine and a Clinical Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. On invitation from the Chinese Government Dr. Willcox is currently completing his PhD. in Acupuncture in Hefei, Anhui Province, China. The thesis subject is Acupuncture Treatment for Mild Cognitive Impairment. Currently a clinical trial is being prepared at the Charles E Schmidt College of Medicine at the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. This study will be the first of it’s kind to be implemented at this University. With the completion of the PhD. study in China Dr. Willcox will have a double doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, a unique set of credentials in the acupuncture world unparalleled by most.
Dr. Tony has been practicing Acupuncture since 2006 and has been studying natural healing remedies since 1984. He runs a private practice in the heart of Delray Beach Florida called Acupuncture Zen and has been the Official Acupuncturist on the Elite Medical Team of the NHL Florida Panthers since 2007.
Studies & Certifications
After practicing for over ten years as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist, Tony Willcox completed his Clinical Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine. Tony was chosen as one of four Doctoral Students to present his Capstone/Thesis in front of the esteemed visitors and faculty from the most famous school in Shanghai, China – The Shanghai University of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine International Education College. The material presented was the “Use of Acupuncture in Professional Sports”. Dr. Tony has also studied acupuncture in Shanghai, China.
Dr. Willcox has studied Acupuncture, Acupressure, Tui Na, Cupping, Herbal Medicine, Advanced Cranio Sacral Therapy, Manual Therapy techniques, Trigger Point Therapy, Dry Needling, NLP, Emotional Freedom Technique, Callahan Tapping Technique, Kinesiology, Muscle Testing, Touch for Health, Reiki Master, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Spiritual hands on Healing, Meditation, Qi Gong, Pranic Healing and many other healing modalities to increase his healing energy.
He also uses Manual Therapy Techniques such as myofascial, trigger point therapy, stretching, traction and muscle energy techniques and use equipment including, Micro-current electro stimulation, Interferential electro stimulation, Therapeutic Ultrasound, and LLLT by THOR, this low level laser light therapy operates at 660 nm and 810 nm which may help to decrease inflammation and pain.
Laser Acupuncture Therapy can also be used, as there is no insertion of needles just laser light. Even though there is no sensation, it is highly effective for replacing acupuncture needles for those who do not wish to experience Acupuncture. Stopping smoking is also helped by the use of this laser.
