What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient medical procedure that originated in China, but has been used for thousands of years in Japan, Korea, Vietnam and other regions of the East. It has also become increasingly popular in Europe and the United States as a form of holistic alternative medicine. Acupuncture, by itself, can treat illnesses without medication, utilizing the body’s electrical energy to rebalance or realign. After diagnosis according to traditional Chinese medicine principles, a Doctor of Acupuncture will insert skinny needles at specific points in the patient’s body. The application of very fine needles has a profound effect on the human body’s nervous system.

Qi

The concept is to rebalance or restore the “qi” or energy that flows through the human body.  Acupuncture can help manage or mitigate everything from asthma and bronchitis to depression, migraines, IBS,  constipation, sinusitis, chronic pain and arthritis, smoking, drug addictions, sexual dysfunctions, blood pressure issues, kidney, gall bladder problems, and more.

TCM

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and represents the original form of acupuncture. Hand acupuncture comes from Korea, and focuses on the acupuncture and moxibustion therapy applied to the patient’s hands instead of the full body. After 5–10 minutes, we actively raised the stimulus slightly as subjects grew sensitized, then sustained it for 30 minutes. Therefore, we selected electroacupuncture instead of manual acupuncture to ensure uniform needle stimulation throughout the study.

Cosmetic acupuncture can be a natural way of reducing wrinkles and does not require a surgical procedure which increases the chance of side effects.
